"NOT TO BE SERVED, BUT TO SERVE"

10 Point Goal of Theological Education
Standard Theological Education

1. Imparts foundational knowledge concerning Christian faith and life.

2. Assists in ridding Christians of superstitious beliefs and practices.

3. Clarifies Jesus’ approach to scripture as opposed to the self-serving devilish approach exemplified in his wilderness temptation.

4. Nurture holistic Christian faith in the context of global awareness and local challenges.

5. Assists Christians in discovering a faithful and practical sense of the twin commandments, to love God with one’s whole being, and to love one’s neighbour as oneself in real life contexts.

6. Empowers ‘God’s people’ to be effective witnesses to the transforming power of the Gospel in their daily lives.

7. Equips candidates for ordained ministry able creatively to nurture and empower their congregations by combining significant worship with practical mission.

8. Experiments with formations of theological community characterized by collective charisma based on commitments and openness, and corporate leadership based on transparency and mutual accountability.

9. Initiates discussions and experiments relevant to our specific contexts, particularly in the area of social engagement and interfaith relations.

10. Fosters an openness to explore the width, depth and height of God’s love in Christ and to grow towards full participation in the divine commune of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
